A charity started near and dear to our hearts, Merciful Heavens, Inc. was started by Mike Moir & Drew Shimkus of Food Shack and Leftovers Cafe along with Jupiter mother-daughter duo Patti and Caroline Bowman to help feed less fortunate people in our community for Thanksgiving.
The first year started with food for 50 families. It has steadily grown every year, with over 600 families fed last year for Thanksgiving. Merciful Heavens has partnered up with Habitat for Humanity this year to stock the refrigerator and pantry with food for new Habitat homes in Palm Beach County as well as providing nutritious snacks for children and nutritious meals for families this summer and at the Edna Runner Tutorial Center.
None of this would be possible without the help of our community. We are 100% non profit and solely rely on donations from our community. On Wednesday, May 17th Merciful Heavens, Inc. is participating in the Great Give. Great Give Palm Beach & Martin Counties is a 24-hour online giving event led by United Way of Palm Beach County, Achieve, Nonprofits First and United Way of Martin County designed to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits in a single day. This community-wide event, to be held on May 17 from midnight to midnight, celebrates the spirit of giving and the collective effort it takes to strengthen our community by raising critical funds for local nonprofits. Every local gift made during the 24-hour period will be multiplied by additional dollars from a bonus pool raised by United Way of Palm Beach County. Over the last three years, Great Give has raised more than $8 million for over 500 nonprofits -- the goal is to make an even GREATer impact this year! We will be trying to raise money through the restaurants this day. Please help us help the community.
You can donate today at Food Shack, Maxi's Lineup or Leftovers Cafe or through the temporary link in our bio. Thank you.
